Turkey's Strategy towards the Kurdish Language
Abstract
This article examines Turkey's strategy towards the Kurdish language, especially resulted in the disavowal of Kurdish through an endeavored linguicide. Through long oppressions which brought about mass killings, re-area of Kurds, arrest, control of training in Turkish and inevitably the lawful prohibition on Kurdish in media and print brought up issues about the endurance of the language over the long period. It also focuses on the rejuvenation forms that have happened in political and educational life for the utilization of Kurdish. Somewhat, the endurance of Kurdish still stays in question, regardless of the re-presentation of Kurdish in colleges since 2010. So as to assess these ongoing advancements, I look at the different positions and roles of the ruling authority, yet in addition to other ideological groups in advancing the dissemination and use of Kurdish as a second local language in Turkey.
