Computers & Mobile Phone Technology and Social Skills Development of Pre-Engineering Learners at Higher Secondary Level: An Analysis and Way Forward

Abstract

Among the students no doubt the use of technology has been increased and it raised the questions of its effectiveness and specitically its impact on social skill development. This study was conducted to uncover this effect on Pre-Engineering students male and femal with suggesting improvements. For this a survey was conducted to collect the opionons of students and through Chi-square tests it was concluded that significantly positive effect was revealed of computer and mobule phone usage on stuents social skill development. Based on the research results, it is suggested that concerned stakeholders may increase the level of expenditure/funds and other services related to the use of computers and mobile phones by students at the higher secondary level. Additionally, further studies may be carried out to explore the nature of computer and mobile technology and its effects on other aspects of social skills development for both boys and girls more comprehensively.
